Willie Junior Maxwell II (Fetty Wap)  was born on June 7, 1991, in Paterson, New Jersey. At six months, he was diagnosed with Glaucoma in both eyes, and he risked losing both his eyes. In an Instagram interview with Fat Joe, Fetty Wap praised a doctor who saved his eye and his mother for acting fast and taking him to the hospital. 

Unfortunately, he lost sight in his left eye and was fitted with an ocular prosthesis. He went to Eastside High School before he dropped out to pursue music. He later removed the prosthetic eye as he felt comfortable without it, giving him a signature look.

Fetty Wap’s Music Career

Fetty Wap rose to fame in 2015 when his song Trap Queen reached number two on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 chart. This led to him getting a record deal with 300 Entertainment.

Fetty Wap’s hard work has led him to have several songs on the Billboard 100 chart. Fast forward to 2021, Fetty Wap released “The Butterfly Effect” album that has received much support from his loyal supporters.

Unfortunately, 2021 also saw the rapper lose his 4-year-old daughter Lauren Maxwell to a heart complication she had been battling from birth.
